21+ Bible journaling supplies + Christmas gift ideas for the Christian creative

If you’re like myself, you are all kinds of crazy creative ranging anywhere from writing to drawing. If you are seeking creative worship ideas or activities, Bible journaling is great. I’ve also written about the ways Bible journaling can improve your prayer life if you are interested to learn more.

Personally, I haven’t explored all of the many ways one can get creative with Bible journaling because there are so many options. Typically I love to sit down with a set of gel pens and a study Bible and write *scribble whatever the Lord impresses on my heart in a notebook. I also jot down responses I have to the daily verses I read and study. Bible journaling supplies and tools you will typically find in my own arsenal are gel pens, colored micro liners, highlighters, sticky notes, and color coded stickers.

Creative Journaling Bibles

  1.   2. 3. 4. 5.

1. Journal the Word Bible (NIV) This Bible is a stunner. I adore the cloth print. Wide, lined margins for annotations and journaling and a ribbon marker.

2. Journal the Word Bible (NKJV) Can you tell I like floral print journaling Bibles?

3. My Creative Bible KJV This beauty is a combination of illustrations and margin space for your own creative doodling or journaling.

4. ESV Illuminated Bible  Hands down, this is the most gorgeous Bible I’ve ever seen!

5. The Jesus Bible This is a very unique study Bible; it has interviews from John Piper to Max Lucado and articles spread throughout to help you discover Jesus in each book. Not to mention it has room for journaling!

Bible Journaling Essentials

1. Faber-Castell Bible Journaling Kit  Faber-Castell make a Bible journaling kit! I repeat, Faber-Castell make a Bible journaling kit! I adore Faber-Castell products and this makes me so happy.

2. Bible Safe U.S. Office Supply Highlighters I never knew this was a thing but I’m glad I came across them. These highlighters don’t bleed through the Bible pages.

3. Prismacolor Colored Pencil Set As someone that has used so many different kinds of colored pencils and art supplies, I can say without a doubt that Prismacolor are the best out there. Invest in some!

4. Micro-Pen Fineliner Pens You’ve got to invest in some fine liners! They make outlining drawings or doing calligraphy fun, especially the soft nib kind.

5. Gelly Rolls!  Gelly rolls are super nostalgic for me. They also make really great pens for adult coloring books (I’ve listed some cute examples below).

6. Stabilo Pastel Highlighters Pastel highlighters are a lot softer than regular highlighters. Personally I prefer pastel highlighters!

7. Staedtler Felt Tip Pens/Markers These Staedtler markers actually give you a watercolor effect. Because watercolor isn’t exactly great for Bible pages, even journaling Bibles with thicker paper, these pens would be a great alternative.

8. A Calligraphy Set Okay, calling all creative types. You have to try working with a calligraphy pen at least once in your life! It’s also a pretty cool hobby outside of Bible journaling. I received this set last year for Christmas and it has a booklet that teaches you techniques. It also comes with different ink colors.

9. Spectrum Noir Metallic Sparkle Markers Cause who doesn’t love sparkly markers? These are gorgeous. They have a range of color sets, too, if metallics don’t interest you.

10. Colorful Microliners One must always have colorful micro liners in their art kit arsenal!
